The world of ‘Tomb Raider’ is taking shape in a big way as Amazon MGM Studios continues to flesh out its ambitious Prime Video reboot.
The upcoming series, led by Sophie Turner as iconic adventurer Lara Croft, has unveiled a wave of new cast members, adding serious gravitas to the already buzzy project. Newly confirmed names include Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, Bill Paterson, and Sasha Luss, among others.
Behind the scenes, the show is being steered by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner. The series aims to balance classic elements from the beloved video game franchise with new characters and storylines designed for long-form television.
Speaking on stepping into Lara’s boots, Turner said:
“She has always felt for me very emboldened in a male dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!”
Weaver is set to play a mysterious power player with her eye on Lara’s talents, while Isaacs takes on the role of Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle. Longtime fans will also recognize familiar figures like Winston, the Croft family butler, and Zip, Lara’s trusted tech ally.
With filming underway and expectations high, Amazon’s ‘Tomb Raider’ looks poised to deliver a fresh yet faithful take on one of gaming’s most enduring heroines.
We’re excited. Are you?
