HBO has officially pulled back the curtain on its highly anticipated ‘Harry Potter’ reboot series, dropping the title, a debut trailer, and a premiere date all in one swoop.

The reveals landed at a London event marking the UK launch of HBO Max, where it was confirmed the series will carry the full title ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and arrive globally on Christmas Day 2026. The show follows an 11-year-old Harry as he discovers the magical world of Hogwarts while confronting a dangerous enemy from his past.

Dominic McLaughlin takes on the iconic title role, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The wider ensemble boasts some serious talent, including John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape.

The trailer features a standout moment as Hagrid addresses young Harry:

“Your parents were the bravest, kindest people I’ve ever met… they stood up for what they think is right. Next time I see you will be in Hogwarts.”

Behind the camera, ‘Succession’ collaborators Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod serve as showrunner and director respectively, with J.K. Rowling among the executive producers. Christmas Day on HBO Max can’t come soon enough.
