The ‘Fast & Furious’ universe is officially shifting gears for television.
Months after the blockbuster franchise’s move to the small screen was first announced, Peacock has now formally greenlit its first live-action ‘Fast & Furious’ series.
According to Deadline, the project is currently eyeing a 2028 arrival on the streamer.
Vin Diesel, who has steered the movie franchise as Dominic Toretto for more than two decades, will executive produce alongside Sam Vincent, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan.
Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman will serve as writers, co-showrunners and executive producers. Plot and casting details remain firmly under wraps.
The greenlight marks a notable step forward from May, when Peacock confirmed the project was merely in development. Diesel had also teased a wider slate of shows set within the franchise, although only this series has so far advanced to an official order.
Its planned 2028 launch could make for a major year for the $7 billion-plus franchise. ‘Fast Forever’, the next chapter in the movie saga, is presently scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
The new show will not be the property’s first TV outing. Animated spin-off ‘Fast & Furious: Spy Racers’ previously ran for six seasons on Netflix from 2019 to 2021.
For now, Peacock has yet to announce a title, cast or exact premiere date for its live-action expansion.
