Melanie C is back with another dose of euphoric Pop energy.
The Spice Girls icon has released ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?,’ the second single from her forthcoming ninth studio album ‘Sweat’, which drops on May 1 via Virgin Music Group. The track follows the title single and delivers shimmering synths paired with irresistible momentum that’s built for the dance floor.
Speaking about the new release, the Liverpool native said:
“‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’ is the second single from my upcoming album, written and recorded in Stockholm with the brilliant Klas Åhlund and Nea gives this track that distinctive Swedish sound. We had a lot of fun working on this song and discussing the light and shade of music and life. It’s a tongue in cheek look on taking risks and trusting yourself to take that leap anyway.”
Take a listen:
The album marks a full-circle moment for Melanie, channeling the raw energy of her pre-fame days as part of “The F**king Yeah Four,” a group of friends who lived for the Costa Brava rave scene in the early ’90s.
That same spirit of breakbeats, freedom, and community now fuels ‘Sweat,’ which she describes as her most euphoric record to date. Recorded across London, Stockholm, and LA, the project fuses her Pop legacy with her evolution as a DJ, a path reignited after a 2018 invitation to spin at queer club night Sink The Pink led to sets at Ibiza hotspots like Pacha and Café Mambo.
The singer is set to headline O2 Academy Brixton on October 23. She’s currently featured as Apple Music’s artist for their ‘Music That Moves Me’ playlist series as part of their January fitness activation.
