Charlie Puth is wearing his heart on his sleeve. The singer-songwriter has released his latest single, ‘Home’, featuring Japanese Pop icon Hikaru Utada, alongside an official music video directed by Hunter Moreno — and the story behind it is as personal as it gets.
Written as a tribute to his wife Brooke, who is expecting the couple’s first child, the track is a candid reflection on love, belonging and life-changing perspective. The bilingual collaboration blends English and Japanese lyrics, with Utada bringing a rare depth to the record that Puth says he’s “so grateful for.”
Puth shared:
“Home was written for my best friend, wife and soon to be mother of our first child. Brooke has changed my life for the better and given me a whole new perspective on why and where I belong in this world. Everything makes sense with her. To have the honor of one of my favorite artists, Hikaru Utada, featuring on this song with me, is a true gift.”
Utada added:
“It was obvious to me when I first heard the demo of ‘Home’ that this is a deeply personal song for Charlie that comes straight from his heart. It was a joy to collaborate with such a gifted musician — and a very fun challenge to contribute Japanese lyrics to an English song.”
‘Home’ arrives via Atlantic Records ahead of Puth’s forthcoming fourth studio album ‘Whatever’s Clever!’, due March 27. His accompanying world tour kicks off April 22 at San Diego’s Viejas Arena, with European and UK dates to follow in June and July. It’s been a big stretch for the New Jersey native — last month, he opened Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium with a nationally praised rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ accompanied by an orchestra and Kenny G.
