KATSEYE will be moving forward as a five-piece for now.
The global girl group announced Thursday that member Manon Bannerman is taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing. The news comes from HxG, the group’s management team under Hybe Labels and Geffen Records.
“After open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing,” the statement read. “We fully support this decision. KATSEYE remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right.”
The 23-year-old Swiss singer has faced health challenges before, having missed the ‘Gabriela’ performance video last year due to a sprained ankle. More recently, she’s dealt with respiratory issues that affected her ability to perform, including needing an inhaler during a Seattle soundcheck.
Manon was notably absent from several recent performances, sparking concern among fans about her wellbeing. In a recent interview with The Cut, she’d spoken about the group’s long-term plans, saying she didn’t want fans to experience heartbreak like One Direction fans did when that group split.
The remaining members—Sophia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, and Yoonchae Jeung—will continue with scheduled activities.
