A documentary chronicling the whirlwind rise of Noah Kahan is officially finding its home. The two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter is set to be the subject of a feature-length film landing on Netflix later this year, with Nick Sweeney at the helm.
The currently untitled project, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, takes an intimate look at the Vermont native’s life in the aftermath of his multi-platinum album ‘Stick Season’ and its cultural explosion. Sold-out arena tours, headline nights at Madison Square Garden and Fenway Park, and deeply personal struggles all feature in the film as the 27-year-old navigates the pressures that come with sudden global stardom.
Sweeney, who previously directed ‘Santa Camp’ for HBO Max, offered a candid glimpse into what viewers can expect:
“He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. What we captured over the course of a year surprised me: moments that were thrilling, terrifying, hilarious … often all at once.”
The news lands at a particularly buzzy moment for the singer. His new single ‘The Great Divide’ dropped just yesterday, with the official music video set to premiere during Mastercard’s commercial break at Sunday’s Grammy Awards on CBS. The album of the same name follows on April 24.
