A fresh take on the Christmas classic ‘The Holiday’ is heading to Apple TV+ as a limited series.
The original 2006 film starred Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Jack Black and is set to be reimagined with a brand-new set of characters. It’s promised that the heart of the film will remain.
According to Deadline, the new version will follow an American and a British woman who switch homes over the festive period, only to find love where they least expect it.
Behind the scenes, Krissie Ducker is writing and executive producing the series. She’s known for her work on shows like ‘Killing Eve’ and ‘Sweetpea’. Rob Delaney, co-creator of ‘Catastrophe,’ is on board as a consultant, while Left Bank Pictures will handle production.
Nancy Meyers, who wrote and directed the original film, isn’t attached to the new project, but her influence looms large. With casting underway, the project is expected to move forward once the leads are locked in.
Since its release, ‘The Holiday’ has built a loyal fanbase and grossed over $205 million worldwide, cementing its place as a go-to holiday favorite.
