Tinker Bell is getting a whole new chapter. Disney+ is developing ‘Tink’, a live-action drama series centered on the beloved Peter Pan character, and insiders say it’s currently considered a high-priority project at the streamer.
Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter — collaborators from ‘Friday Night Lights’ — are on board to write and executive produce. The project is in drama development via 20th Television, with former Disney Branded Television president Gary Marsh and Quinn Haberman of Selfish Mermaid also attached as exec producers.
It’s been a long road for ‘Tink’ at the studio. A 2010 version had Elizabeth Banks attached to star, while a 2015 iteration was set up as a feature with Reese Witherspoon in the lead role. Neither made it to screen.
Most recently, Yara Shahidi played the character in the 2023 live-action film ‘Peter Pan and Wendy.’
No logline has been shared yet, but with two seasoned TV writers at the helm and a “high priority” stamp from the network, this version looks to have more momentum than its predecessors.
