‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ has returned the 2019 blockbuster to the top of the worldwide box office.
The enhanced rerelease earned an estimated $86 million globally during its opening weekend, including $26 million in North America and $60 million internationally.
That performance made it the weekend’s No. 1 global release and the second-biggest worldwide debut ever achieved by a rerelease.
The latest earnings increased ‘Avengers: Endgame’’s lifetime global total to $2.885 billion.
It now sits approximately $39 million behind ‘Avatar’, which remains the highest-grossing movie in worldwide box-office history.
Marvel Studios also crossed $35.075 billion in combined global earnings across its 38 theatrical releases.

The rerelease contains new material designed to lead into ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ including an exclusive preview of the forthcoming movie.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, ‘Doomsday’ will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18.
Announcing the figures, Disney described the result as evidence of the continuing appeal of the original Avengers lineup.
