Prime Video has offered the first glimpse of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft in the upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ series.
The streaming giant unveiled behind-the-scenes images from the live-action reboot, which is currently in production. Turner joins a prestigious lineage of actresses who’ve brought the iconic video game archaeologist to life on screen, following Angelina Jolie‘s two-film run and Alicia Vikander‘s 2018 portrayal.
The former ‘Game of Thrones’ star headlines a stacked ensemble that includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer, is co-showrunning alongside Chad Hodge. Jonathan van Tulleken will direct and executive produce. The series was greenlit in May 2024, with Turner’s casting announced that November.
The adaptation arrives as the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise experiences a resurgence, with two new games, ‘Legacy of Atlantis’ and ‘Catalyst,’ slated for 2026 and 2027 releases.
