‘The Sims 4’ is trading modern comforts for crowns, castles, and courtly drama. The long-running life simulation franchise is heading deep into fantasy territory with its newly announced ‘Royalty & Legacy’ expansion, promising a sweeping shift in tone that leans heavily into power, romance, and scandal.
Unveiled by Electronic Arts and Maxis, the expansion introduces the kingdom of Ondarion, a richly layered world divided into three distinct regions ruled by noble dynasties.
From the artistic generosity of Dambele to the outlaw energy of Verdemar and the candlelit intrigue of Bellacorde, each area brings its own flavor of prestige and peril.
Players can send their Sims to grand balls, spark secret romances, or even attempt to claim the unoccupied royal throne.
New gameplay mechanics raise the stakes further. A Swordsmanship skill allows Sims to duel for love, status, and Simoleons, while tournaments unfold across Ondarion’s gazebos. Secret passageways add stealthy shortcuts, hidden WooHoo spots, and the risk of a dramatic new demise known as Death by Cuckoo Malfunction.
The ‘Royalty & Legacy’ expansion launches February 12.
