MIKA is back with his most emotionally charged project yet.
The multi-platinum, BRIT Award-winning artist has released ‘Hyperlove,’ his first English-language studio album since 2019, and it’s a masterclass in vulnerability and joy.
Out now via Republic Records, the 15-track set marks a bold creative shift for the Pop visionary, one anchored by raw emotion and fearless honesty. Leading the charge is new single ‘Excuses for Love,’ a euphoric, bass-heavy anthem that encapsulates the album’s core message: embracing radical emotional transparency in a world that often demands restraint.
Produced in collaboration with Nick Littlemore, the creative force behind Empire of the Sun and PNAU, who also helmed MIKA’s critically acclaimed ‘The Origin of Love,’ the album leans heavily into analogue and retro production techniques. The result is a richly textured sonic landscape that explores the tension between human vulnerability and modern technology. Adding an unexpected twist, legendary filmmaker and cultural icon John Waters appears as a guest narrator, delivering sharp, witty interludes throughout the project.
To celebrate the release, MIKA is bringing his kaleidoscopic live show back to North America with the ‘Spinning Out Tour,’ kicking off April 29 in Boston. The trek will hit major cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Austin, with the San Francisco date at The Castro already sold out.
