Music legend Ozzy Osbourne‘s cause of death has been published.
The trailblazer passed on July 22 at age 76.
According to his official death certificate, submitted by his daughter Aimee Osbourne in London, the Black Sabbath frontman’s cause of death was out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction (heart attack).
Additional contributing factors included coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction.
Ozzy’s passing came just 17 days after performing his final concert with his bandmates on July 5 in Birmingham – a farewell show billed as ‘Back to the Beginning.’ Over 40,000 fans attended, and the event was streamed by millions.
His funeral procession on July 30 followed a route through key Birmingham landmarks tied to his towering legacy, including the Black Sabbath Bridge. Thousands of fans lined the streets in a final tribute to the rock legend.
In recent years, Ozzy had battled multiple health issues, including Parkinson’s disease diagnosed in 2020 and coronary disease. The latter of which limited his mobility and ultimately influenced his retirement.
Despite mounting struggles, he remained a transformative figure who helped shape heavy metal and pop culture. Indeed, he earned multiple GRAMMY Awards and dual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions.
Survived by wife Sharon Osbourne and children Aimee, Kelly Osbourne, and Jack Osbourne, it was confirmed that he died “surrounded by loved ones.”
