Stacie Orrico is speaking out with devastating allegations tied to her early years in the music industry. The singer, who rose to prominence as a teenager in the early 2000s, has filed a lawsuit against her former manager, Britt Ham, accusing him of sexually abusing her while she was still a minor.
In a statement shared Wednesday (January 7), the 39-year-old addressed the weight of coming forward after years of silence, pointing to what she describes as a broader failure by the systems meant to protect young artists.
Speaking about the decision to take legal action, Orrico said:
“The music industry failed to protect me when I was a little girl. It has taken me years to become strong enough, but I am ready to fight for every young and innocent person who has been, and continues to be, abused in the music industry and in the church.”
According to court documents, the alleged abuse began when the singer was 14 and continued over several years during her adolescent career. The filing claims the experiences profoundly altered her life, both personally and professionally.
The lawsuit also alleges that Orrico informed executives at Universal Music Group about the abuse, but says no intervention followed. Representatives for the label and Ham have been contacted for comment.
Orrico, who stepped away from her recording contract in 2008, is now seeking accountability and acknowledgment of the lasting harm she says she endured.
