Finn Wolfhard made sure his first time hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ didn’t go unnoticed.
The actor leaned all the way in, starring in a buzzy pre-taped sketch that mashed together the wizarding world of ‘Harry Potter’ with the steamy intensity of HBO’s ‘Heated Rivalry.’
Titled ‘Heated Wizardry,’ the sketch opens as a tongue-in-cheek trailer for HBO’s upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ TV reboot, before veering sharply into parody of the Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams-led show.
Wolfhard stars as Harry opposite comedian Ben Marshall’s Ron Weasley, with the pair’s magical rivalry quickly mirroring the secret romance dynamic made famous in ‘Heated Rivalry’. What follows is a string of cheeky double entendres, Quidditch tension, and deliberately over-the-top innuendo.
The sketch also featured appearances from James Austin Johnson, Chloe Fineman, Kenan Thompson, and a surprise cameo from Jason Momoa as Hagrid. A voiceover made clear the characters were “all 18+,” while a fake disclaimer joked that J.K. Rowling was “not involved.”
The episode also marked a full-circle moment for Wolfhard, who used his opening monologue to reflect on closing the chapter on ‘Stranger Things,’ joined by co-stars Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo.
