Rockstar Games has shown a touching act of kindness to a terminally ill fan.
Anthony Armstrong, a developer at Ubisoft near Rockstar’s Oakville studio, recently took to LinkedIn to share that a family member battling cancer has been given just six to 12 months to live. The family member is a devoted ‘Grand Theft Auto’ fan, but with ‘GTA 6’ not releasing until November 19, the inference is that they sadly won’t be able to experience the highly anticipated game.
Armstrong asked if there was any possibility his family member could participate in an exclusive playtest to experience the game before passing away.
Shortly after posting, he updated followers with good news, revealing that someone from Rockstar had reached out. While details remain confidential due to an NDA, it appears the gaming giant granted the fan early access to play ‘GTA 6.’
The commendable gesture has been met with widespread appreciation online, with fans and gamers alike praising Rockstar for the move. Naturally, no gameplay details or leaks are expected given the legal agreements in place.
Still, the move is one that resonates in earnest.
