Disney is officially letting down its hair. After months of speculation and a closely watched casting search, the studio has locked in the two stars set to lead its live-action take on ‘Tangled.’
The studio has tapped Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim to step into the iconic roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, respectively. The announcement brings clarity to a process that quietly stretched across both the US. and UK., with finalists screening in London late last year.
Croft will take on the wide-eyed princess with magical hair, while Manheim is set to play the charming rogue who helps her escape the tower. The project is being directed by Michael Gracey, with a script from Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and production duties handled by Kristin Burr. As with the animated original, music will remain a central element.
The stakes are high. The 2010 animated film is widely viewed as a modern Disney classic, and live-action adaptations can turn rising talent into global names overnight. Still, expectations are just as intense, particularly from fans who grew up replaying the soundtrack on repeat.
Casting for the villainous Mother Gothel is still underway, with no official announcement yet.
