Anderson Cooper is reportedly saying goodbye to ’60 Minutes’ after nearly two decades.
The 58-year-old broadcaster is set to exit the CBS news program, according to Variety, which cited a “person familiar with his thinking.”
Cooper first joined ’60 Minutes’ as a correspondent in 2007.
He was reportedly in negotiations with CBS recently to renew his deal, but now wants to focus on his role at CNN, where he re-upped his contract last year. The timing comes amid a turbulent period for ’60 Minutes,’ which has faced scrutiny in recent months, including the controversy surrounding the ‘Inside CECOT’ segment that one journalist claimed was pulled for political reasons.
Cooper has not made a public statement confirming the news. CBS has been reached for comment.
