Baby Yoda made his Super Bowl debut, and it was surprisingly wholesome.
Disney dropped a 30-second spot for ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu’ during the Big Game, showing the iconic duo getting pulled through the snow by a fleet of Tauntauns. No fan-favorite cameos, no surprise appearances, just an inspirational journey narrated by none other than Sam Elliott.
“Sometimes we choose our path, other times the path chooses us,” Elliott’s unmistakable voice begins. “Through it all, we keep pushing forward, driven by a deeper purpose, guided by an unseen force. The journey never gets any easier, the bond just gets harder to break. This is the way.”
Based on the 15-Emmy-winning Disney+ series, the film is set to be this year’s big Memorial Day weekend release. After last year’s ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ Disney already owns the holiday opening record with $182.6 million. ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ posted the best Memorial Day debut for a Star Wars film with $103 million, though that movie ultimately underperformed.
This is reportedly only the second Super Bowl spot ever for a Star Wars movie, following 2018’s ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story.’
