A star-studded Uber Eats commercial sounds like a win, right? Not according to NFL fans, who are sounding off about the latest spot featuring Matthew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper.
The 30-second teaser aired during Saturday’s AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos. In it, the ‘Interstellar’ actor drives a pickup truck alongside Cooper, who’s jogging down the street in an Eagles hat. McConaughey proceeds to repeatedly shout “food” in various pitches, much to the annoyance of the ‘A Star Is Born’ star, who attempts to ignore him.
The spot ends with a teaser for the Super Bowl LX on February 8, hinting at a larger showdown between the two. It’s a continuation of the brand’s ‘Football Is For Food’ conspiracy campaign, which launched during last year’s Super Bowl with McConaughey suggesting the NFL exists solely to sell wings, burgers, and more.
But the repetitive nature of the commercial has viewers threatening to switch off their TVs entirely.
Taking to X, one user wrote:
“The Matthew McConaughey Uber Eats commercials are beyond insufferable. I’d rather watch the Lilly guy lie to my face about him dieting since he was 12..”
The sentiment was echoed by another, who added:
“In these trying times, it’s nice to see us come together as a nation and agree these Matthew McConaughey Uber Eats commercials are terrible.”
Others wrote:
“I’ve only seen that Matthew McConaughey Uber Eats commercial one time and I hope I never see it again. Might be the most annoying thing I’ve ever seen..”
The full commercial is expected to drop during the Super Bowl broadcast, where the debate between McConaughey’s conspiracy believer and Cooper’s impassioned football defender will presumably reach its conclusion.
