Sky is officially reopening the Millennium case files. The broadcaster has commissioned an eight-part original drama based on ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, bringing Stieg Larsson’s bestselling world back to the screen with a modern-day reset.
The series is being positioned as a bold, contemporary reimagining that stays anchored to the characters and investigative edge of the Millennium novels, including hacker heroine Lisbeth Salander. Sky says the new take will pull the story into the present, leaning into themes that feel even sharper in today’s climate.
Left Bank Pictures is producing, with Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna writing and executive producing.
Production is set to begin in Spring 2026 in Lithuania.
This latest adaptation arrives after the acclaimed 2011 film directed by David Fincher and starring Rooney Mara, plus 2018’s ‘The Girl in the Spider’s We.’
A release date and casting details for the Sky series have not yet been announced, but the buzz is palpable.
