Evangeline Lilly has shared a deeply personal health update, revealing she is living with brain damage following a serious fall last year.
The 46-year-old actress, best known for her work in the Marvel universe, explained that she fainted in May and fell face-first into a boulder, suffering a traumatic brain injury. Subsequent scans, she said, show her brain is functioning at a reduced capacity in multiple areas.
In an emotional Instagram post, Lilly wrote:
“I do have brain damage from the TBI. My job now is to get to the bottom of it with doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it.”
While the diagnosis has been life-altering, she admitted it has also forced her to slow down, calling it the calmest and most restful holiday season she has had in over a decade.
Lilly also revealed she has experienced fainting spells since childhood, previously attributed to low blood sugar, and suffered blackouts following the accident.
Despite the challenges ahead, the actress struck a note of gratitude, saying she feels “extraordinarily blessed” to continue doing what she loves while focusing on recovery.
