Kelly Clarkson is sharing how her children are coping five months after the passing of their father, Brandon Blackstock.
During a recent YouTube Q&A session on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ channel, the talk show host opened up about the simple moments that bring her the most joy during this difficult period. When asked what she does daily that makes her happy, the 43-year-old singer’s answer centered entirely on her two children with Blackstock: daughter River and son Remington “Remy.”
Clarkson revealed that snuggling with her kids, now 9 and 11, has become her favorite part of each day. She explained that, given everything the family has experienced recently, she’s allowed her children to sleep in her bed more frequently. According to Clarkson:
“It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot. It’s been really special, though, because the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute.”
Blackstock passed away on August 7, 2025, at age 48 after a three-year battle with melanoma. The talent manager and former stepson of Reba McEntire also had two children from a previous marriage and became a grandfather in 2022.
A source told PEOPLE this week that the Grammy winner is “heartbroken” for River and Remy but remains focused on providing them with stability. Despite Clarkson and Blackstock’s contentious divorce, which was finalized in 2022 after filing in 2020, she reportedly always prioritized her children’s relationship with their father and never spoke negatively about him to them.
