Pandora is already heating up at the global box office, and James Cameron looks poised for yet another blockbuster-sized win with ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash.’
Initial international returns suggest audiences are turning out in force for the filmmaker’s latest epic, with momentum continuing to build as the holiday corridor kicks in.
According to early estimates, the blockbuster is tracking toward a massive $340 million to $350 million worldwide opening. Overseas markets crossed the $100 million mark by Friday alone, signaling strong legs ahead as premium formats dominate ticket sales across key territories.
The 20th Century Studios and Disney release has already opened at No. 1 in nearly every offshore market so far, delivering the biggest opening days of 2025 in countries including France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and Spain.
Premium formats are once again driving revenue, with some territories reporting more than 70% of ticket sales coming from 3D and similar screenings.
China has also come in strong, launching at #1 and rapidly climbing past $40 million when including previews.
Social scores overseas remain robust, reinforcing expectations that the Na’vi will continue to play steadily through the festive period.
With more markets still rolling out, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ appears firmly on course to anchor one of the biggest global openings of the year.
