The gaming world just got hit with another dose of bad news. Rockstar Games has pushed back the release of ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ yet again, adding six more months to what has already been a marathon wait for fans.
The much-anticipated title, which was supposed to drop in May 2026, now won’t see the light of day until late next year. For a game that’s been in development for over a decade, the extra time might seem like a drop in the ocean, but for eager players who’ve been counting down the days, it’s another blow.
The studio made the announcement via social media earlier today, confirming that the game will now launch on November 19, 2026. In a statement, the developer acknowledged the frustration, saying they’re “sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait.” However, they insist these extra months are needed to deliver the polish that fans have come to expect.
“These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve. We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”
This marks the second delay for the Action-Adventure title in 2025 alone. Originally slated for a fall 2025 release, the game was first pushed to May 26, 2026, before today’s announcement moved it to the end of next year.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver “an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience,” though no specific reason for the delay was provided beyond the need for additional polish.
With the new November 2026 date, fans are now facing a full year’s wait from today.
Whether the extra time will result in the seamless, next-level experience everyone’s hoping for remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: the anticipation couldn’t be higher for ‘GTA 6.’
