Some images are too painful to carry. Erika Kirk, widow of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, opened up about why she’s never watched the video of her husband’s assassination and why she never will. In an emotional interview with Jesse Watters, she revealed that while she needed to see his body in the hospital to understand “what they did to my husband,” watching the actual footage would be a bridge too far.
The reason is heartbreakingly simple: she doesn’t want her last mental image of her husband to be of him being shot in the neck and dying. The conservative activist was killed during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in September, and the graphic video has circulated online ever since. Many have chosen not to watch it, and Erika Kirk is firmly in that camp.
During the interview, she also got emotional discussing what she had to say to Jimmy Kimmel, though specific details weren’t elaborated on. Since the tragedy, she has succeeded her late husband as CEO of Turning Point USA and has spoken publicly about the shooting multiple times, including at his memorial service, where she offered forgiveness to his killer.
