Jill Zarin has been axed from E!‘s ‘RHONY’ reunion series before it even started filming.
The OG ‘Real Housewives of New York City’ cast member was fired from ‘The Golden Life’ following a racist tirade about Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl halftime performance. The show’s producers, Blink49 Studios, issued a statement Tuesday through E!, cutting ties with her:
“In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in ‘The Golden Life.’ We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.”
The fallout stems from an Instagram rant Zarin posted Sunday after Bad Bunny’s halftime show. “We all agree — it was the worst halftime show ever. It’s 250 years that we’re celebrating right now in the United States, and I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish,” she said in the video, which was captured by content creator Gibson Johns before she deleted it.
She also criticized the Puerto Rican superstar for “grabbing his crotch in front of kids” and suggested his performance “looked like a political statement, because there were literally no white people in the entire thing,” making a sweeping arm gesture that excluded Lady Gaga and others who appeared during the show.
“I think it was a political statement, and I’m not taking a side one way or the other. I just do. I think it was an ICE thing,” she continued, before calling it “very sad” that the NFL had “sold out.”
Zarin deleted the post almost immediately Sunday night and has since turned off comments on her Instagram grid. ‘The Golden Life,’ which was announced February 3, hasn’t yet entered production.
