If you have been craving another look at Zendaya and Robert Pattinson on screen together, you are about to get your wish. A24 just dropped a brand new trailer for ‘The Drama’, the upcoming wedding rom-com that sees the two stars playing a couple whose big day goes spectacularly off the rails.
Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, who last helmed the Nicolas Cage-led ‘Dream Scenario’, the film centers on Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and Charlie Thompson (Pattinson), a happily engaged couple whose relationship is thrown into chaos just days before their wedding. The trailer opens with the pair at an awkward pre-wedding photoshoot, before cutting to a dinner party with friends played by Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie. When a seemingly harmless game of “what’s the worst thing you’ve ever done” goes sideways, Emma reveals something that sends Charlie spiraling.
The footage teases plenty of drama (naturally), including a car crashing into a tree, a heated argument at the ceremony, and Zendaya pulling a knife on Pattinson in what looks like a tense kitchen standoff. By the end of the trailer, Pattinson’s Charlie sums it up with a deadpan: “It’s just, there’s some drama.”
Borgli wrote and directed the film, with Ari Aster serving as producer through his Square Peg banner. The cast also includes Hailey Benton Gates and Zoë Winters, with the latter appearing as the wedding photographer in the trailer.
For Zendaya, this is just the start of what promises to be a packed year. The 28-year-old is set to appear in the third season of HBO’s ‘Euphoria’, as well as Destin Daniel Cretton‘s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ this summer. She also reunites with Pattinson later this year in Christopher Nolan‘s ‘The Odyssey’ and Denis Villeneuve‘s ‘Dune: Part Three’ in December.
Pattinson, meanwhile, is also keeping busy. The 38-year-old is set to begin production on Matt Reeves‘ ‘The Batman Part II’ this spring, with Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan reportedly joining the cast.
‘The Drama’ hits theaters on April 3.
