Jesy Nelson has shared devastating news about her twin daughters, opening up about a rare diagnosis that has turned her world upside down. The former Little Mix star spoke directly to fans in an emotional video, revealing the reality she and her family are now facing.
The 34-year-old singer explained that her eight-month-old twins, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, a severe genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness.
The girls were born prematurely in May following a high-risk pregnancy.
Speaking through tears, Jesy told followers:
“I am grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.”
She went on to describe months of uncertainty, repeated medical visits, and ultimately being told that her daughters are unlikely to ever walk and may never regain neck strength. Jesy shared that she has effectively become a full-time nurse, navigating treatments and hospital life alongside her fiancé, Zion Foster.
“The hospital has become my second home. I’ve had to do stuff no mother should have to do to their child.”
Jesy confirmed the twins have now received treatment, stressing how critical timing is with SMA.
“If they didn’t have it, they would die. I truly believe my girls will defy the odds.”
