Mandy Moore aptly got candid during a new interview on Kylie Kelce’s podcast Not Gonna Lie.
The singer-turned-actress described herself during her teen Pop star days as “the most boring” compared to her early-2000s peers like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Jessica Simpson. At just 15, Moore said she navigated the music industry on her own terms, enjoying enough creative freedom to choose her image, sound, and public persona.
Moore explained she didn’t feel she was on the same stratosphere as her contemporaries:
“I feel like I was the youngest and the most boring… out of the four of us.”
Despite her modest Pop beginnings, Moore credits her less flashy path with preserving her authenticity.
She reflected on how the shift from magazines to social media has changed everything, where fans now discover music instantly rather than through traditional press and promo cycles.
Moore’s most recent album, 2022’s ‘In Real Life,’ landed to so-so reviews, and the ‘This Is Us’ star continues to build a career based on self-direction and sincerity – something she says never would’ve happened if she’d followed the same route as the other early-season Pop peers.
