The 83rd Annual Golden Globes aired live last night from The Beverly Hilton, with ‘One Battle After Another’ emerging as the night’s biggest winner.
The Warner Bros. film swept multiple categories, taking home Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, Best Screenplay, and Best Female Supporting Actor for Teyana Taylor.
The ceremony, hosted by Nikki Glaser, marked the official kickoff to awards season.
Timothée Chalamet claimed his first Golden Globe for Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) for ‘Marty Supreme,’ thanking partner Kylie Jenner in his speech. ‘Hamnet’ won Best Motion Picture (Drama), with Jessie Buckley taking Best Female Actor in a Drama.
Television honors saw ‘The Pitt’ win Best TV Series (Drama) and ‘The Studio’ claim Best TV Series (Musical or Comedy). ‘Adolescence’ dominated the limited series field, winning the top prize alongside acting awards for Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty.
Glaser delivered a sharp monologue packed with roasts. She joked about Chalamet being “the first actor in history to have to put on muscle for a movie about ping pong,” quipping that “he gained over 60 ounces.” She also took aim at Leonardo DiCaprio’s role in ‘One Battle After Another,’ calling it “One Man Bun After Another” and “so vaping good.”
Amy Poehler made history as the first winner of the inaugural Best Podcast category for ‘Good Hang with Amy Poehler.’ Netflix’s ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ won Best Animated Motion Picture and Best Original Song for “Golden,” while Warner Bros.’ ‘Sinners’ took the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.
