After months of very public friction, Donald Trump and Elon Musk appear to have quietly hit reset.
The pair were spotted enjoying what Musk described as a “lovely dinner” at Mar-a-Lago over the weekend, a moment that instantly reignited chatter about the status of their once-close alliance.
Musk took to his X platform to reflect on the meeting.
He wrote:
“Had a lovely dinner last night with @POTUS and @FLOTUS (Melania Trump).”
The dinner follows a rocky stretch that saw the Tesla founder step back from his advisory role tied to Trump’s government efficiency initiative, after repeatedly criticizing federal spending. Their back-and-forth spilled into the open last year, with sharp words traded online and speculation swirling that the relationship had cooled for good.
Musk’s social media post, which went on to tease that “2026 is going to be amazing,” suggested a willingness to move forward (for now).
The timing is notable, coming as Trump has kept a packed public schedule and remained highly visible.
In recent days, the President has dominated headlines after U.S. authorities confirmed the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, a dramatic development that has reshaped conversations around Venezuela and U.S. involvement in the region.
As for Trump and Musk, neither has commented further. For now, though, a dinner photo has done plenty of talking.
