Wrestling legend Mick Foley has announced he is cutting all ties with WWE, citing the company’s continued alignment with Donald Trump as something he can no longer stand behind.
The Hall of Famer shared his decision in a blunt Instagram post, revealing that Trump’s remarks following the death of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner were the breaking point.
Foley described the comments as “incredibly cruel,” adding that they forced him to reassess his relationship with a company he has long been associated with.
Explaining his stance, Foley wrote:
“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country toward autocracy.”
As a result, the Hardcore legend said he will no longer make appearances for WWE or represent the organization in any capacity for as long as Trump remains in office.
WWE’s ties to Trump have been well documented over the years. While disgraced co-founder Vince McMahon is no longer directly affiliated with the company, he remains a longtime friend of the former president. McMahon’s wife, Linda McMahon, currently serves as Secretary of Education, while their son-in-law, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, is part of Trump’s fitness council.
Foley, who also competed under the personas Mankind, Cactus Jack, and Dude Love, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013, notably – and ironically – in the same class as Trump.

“PARTING WAYS WITH WWE
While I have been concerned about WWE‘s close relationship with Donald Trump for several months — especially in light of his administration’s ongoing cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants (and pretty much anyone who “looks like an immigrant”) — reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me.
I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy. Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.
Additionally, I will not be signing a new Legends deal when my current one expires in June. I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, “I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.””
